MISSION:
The WCT Mission is to present policing differently. To encourage Police Officers to see Law Enforcement from a different viewpoint, to learn one more idea and take one more step.
VISION:
The WCT vision is to positively affect as many law enforcement agencies as possible by Training, Equipping, Empowering and Encouraging Police Officers to be Cops by seeing things just a little bit differently. WCT firmly believes the positive impact we have on individuals will result in improving police agencies, and consequently changing the communities those agencies serve for the better.
Why does WCT use the word “Cop?” Isn’t it derogatory to call a Police Officer a “Cop?” Some people may think so. But, at WCT we see it Differently. WCT was founded on the idea of doing things differently. Jamie and Dan, the founders of WCT see things Differently. Although Jamie and Dan don’t always see things the same way, the Different ideas, approaches and tactics of each one compliments the other. At WCT, we firmly believe that just as Iron sharpens Iron, so one man sharpens another. The friction created in the process of sharpening iron, is similar to the passion that is stoked in the heart of a police officer, when another person encourages the “Different!” Within the Law Enforcement community, the friction of being Different often results in bickering, strife, or a shouting match. With enough friction, sometimes even a physical fight.
However, with the right attitude, the friction of being Different can create Inspiration! At WCT, “Cop” is NOT derogatory. On the contrary, being called a cop is one of the highest compliments one can earn. And it is indeed, Earned!
So, what is a “Cop?" Before we explain what a cop is, we need to tell you about Police Officers. Police Officers are a special breed of people. Police Officers are willing to put their lives on the line to help or protect other people. Police officers sacrifice their personal life, time with family, friends, and loved ones because they have put their mission to protect and serve others first. Police Officers are willing to miss weekends, holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and their kids’ events because they have decided to put other people ahead of themselves. Police Officers go to work every day and live out their vow to put other people’s needs, wants, dreams and desires ahead of their own. As a sheepdog diligently watches over the sheep protecting them from the wolves; Police officers watch over the people in their community protecting them from the criminal element. Being a Police Officer is not a job, it’s a calling.
Now, what does the term, “Cop” mean? Well, it’s like this, just as Police Officers are a special breed of people; Cops are a special breed of Police Officers. A cop is the 10% of the Police officers who do things, “Differently.” A Cop is the person that other Police Officers go to when they seek a different idea, a different viewpoint, or a different approach. Cops have Grit and Tenacity. Cops are willing to take one more step, ask one more question or do one more thing; A cop is willing to take the risk of doing something differently than the other 90% of the Police Officers. It doesn’t necessarily make them better, but it does make them DIFFERENT!
Every Police Officer knows who the Cops are at their agency; and they probably know who the Cops are at the neighboring Police Departments. It is usually pretty evident who the Cops are. Cops are built differently; The Cop is often said to be, “Lucky,” or, “In the right place at the right time.” The Cops are the ones pissing off co-workers because of their relentless pursuit of the dangerous “Wolves,” of society. Other Police Officers can get frustrated with Cops because they work Differently! The cop actively and aggressively pursues the dangerous criminals who would prey on the “Sheep.” Cops chase, pursue, and hound evildoers. Rather than merely responding to calls for service as is typically expected of the police; The Cop Hunts. The Cop Stalks. The Cop obsessively goes after those who violate the innocent. Simply put, the COP is the WOLFHOUND.
At WCT, our desire is to train, empower and equip Police Officers to be Cops! To encourage Police Officers to take one more step. To give Police Officers one more angle to protect the sheep. To show that being different can be a real asset. To inspire Police Officers to tenaciously and relentlessly pursue the wolf.
We are in the business of building Cops DIFFERENTLY. Because sometimes our towns need Cops; Sometimes our communities need people who can make the wolves of this world afraid. Sometimes society needs someone to go into the dark and scary places in pursuit of evil. The world needs COPS that are Wolfhounds.
WCT Instructors are passionate about Inspiring and teaching Law Enforcement Officers to go beyond the minimum expected standard. WCT instructors are burdened with an urgency to educate and motivate Police Officers to consistently do, "One More Thing."
